As stated in the article, it is Leclerc but the owners have a lot of freedom in their own stores.

@lazyliteratus 50 loose leaf teas on offer in a grocery store doesn't sound a lot? I think that's super impressive ol' boy. Can't imagine that in our local super store chains. Which "hypermarket" was it Xavier? Curious who goes out of their way to try so hard to sell loose leaf tea.

For a hypermarket and for an area that is not really into tea, I think it is quite impressive.

And in this area, I don’t think there is a specialist teashop (there is a cofee and tea shop in another mall, a kilometer away but that’s all since you have to go in the town centre to find something).

Whomever do you mean by:

I think it’s a great idea, if there are no struggling specialist teashops nearby.

@bram Southern border of the tea drinking Germany. And you are probably right about the quality of the tea coming to East Frisia as one of the factors explaining its strength. Regarding the WWII thing, I don't know if we discussed about it but I know I read it somewhere.

Hamburg a Southern border? Looks more like a North East….

If I remember correctly the original tea that arrived in East Frisia was not of the better quality. I.e. strong in nature. Should have had its effect on the development of the preferences and ceremony.

To illustrate the addiction of the East Frisians to tea: it was the only area in Germany during WWII that had a steady flow of tea. The German government was too afraid that a tea shortage would lead to an uprising… But I think I said that before didn’t I.
